Protecting your privacy is important. To better protect your privacy, Digital Providence Publications (“DPP”) provides this notice explaining our online information practices. By reviewing the DPP Privacy Policy, you can make choices about the collection, use and disclosure of the personal information that you submit on www.ofmythandmen.com or on www.digitalprovidencepublications.com, (“Site”).

 

Identifying Information:

“Identifying Information” can be defined as personal information or data that can be used to identify a single person, whether the data is used on its own or along with other pieces of data that together can identify that person.The types of identifying information that may be collected on the Site includes: name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, fax number, credit card information, and information about your interests in and use of the Site, its Content or DPP’s products, programs, and services.

For example, you may be asked to provide your personal information anytime you are in contact with DPP or its affiliates, if any, which may then share this identifying information with each other and use it consistent with this Privacy Policy. They may also combine it with other information to provide and improve our Site, products, services, content, and advertising.

 

The Information We Collect:  

On the Site you may order products, enter contests, vote in polls or otherwise express an opinion, subscribe to one of our services, such as our “YouTube Channel”, or participate in one of our online surveys, forums or communities. To participate, you may be required to disclose identifying information.

In addition, you may submit identifying information about other people, when using the Site and DPP may collect that information, including names, mailing addresses or phone numbers. For example, where permitted on the Site, you may share Content from the Site with family and friends, or, when such services are offered, send them gift certificates or products, or you may invite others to join you the Site or any related forums or communities. In these cases and others, DPP may collect the identifying information that you provide about those people.

Only persons who provide us with the requested identifying information will be able to order products, programs, and services, or otherwise participate in the Site's activities and offerings.

 

Use of Identifying Information

There are a multitude of uses that DPP may consider when collecting your identifying information. The following is a non-exhaustive summary of the types of ‘uses’ that DPP may employ.  However, DPP’s goal is to protect your privacy in all regards.

The identifying information we collect allows us to keep you posted on DPP’s latest product announcements, software updates, and upcoming events. It also helps us to improve our services, content, and advertising. Or, if you enter into a sweepstake, contest, or similar promotion offered by DPP, we may use the identifying information you provide to administer those programs.

In other cases, DPP may use your identifying information to send you notices, such as communications about purchases and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies. Because this information is important to your interaction with DPP, you may not opt out of receiving these communications. DPP may also use personal information for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis, and research to improve our products, services, and customer communications.

DPP may use the identifying information you provide to fulfill your requests for our products, programs, and services, to respond to your inquiries about our offerings, and to offer you other products, programs or services that we believe may be of interest to you. The identifying information we collect in connection with our online forums and communities, if any, will be used to provide an interactive experience and facilitate participation in these online forums and communities as well as offer you products, programs, or services.

If you choose to submit emails or content for publication (e.g., a "letter to our editors"), on the Site or on third party sites, DPP may publish your screen name and other information provided to us.

 

Required by Law:

If required by law, court order or authorized requests from public and government authorities within Canada or other jurisdictions, it may be necessary for DPP to disclose your identifying information. DPP may also disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary or appropriate. For example, DPP may disclose identifying information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or as otherwise required by law. In addition, DPP may transfer information about you if we are acquired by, sold to, or merged with another company. DPP may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or users.

 

Strategic Partners, Agents and Service Providers:

DPP may make certain identifying information available to strategic partners that work with DPP to provide products and services, or that help DPP market to customers. Identifying information will be shared by DPP with those strategic partners, its agents, or associates, if any, to provide or improve our products, services and advertising. DPP’s strategic partners or agents, who have access to identifying information collected on the Site are required to protect this information in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. 

Moreover, DPP may share your identifying information with companies who provide services such as information processing, extending credit, fulfilling customer orders, delivering products to you, managing and enhancing customer data, providing customer service, assessing your interest in our products and services, and conducting customer research or satisfaction surveys. These service providers are also obligated to protect your information and in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy.

DPP will take appropriate measures to safeguard against unauthorized disclosures of information to the best of our ability but we cannot assure you that the identifying information that we collect will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.

In certain instances, DPP may ask for your permission to disclose identifying information about you to companies whose practices are not covered by this Privacy Policy, such as other marketers, magazine publishers, retailers, participatory databases and non-profit organizations that want to market products or services to you. Should you grant us permission to transfer your information for these purposes and later decide that you no longer want us to do so, it is your responsibility to notify those other companies of this change, and DPP when applicable. Third Party Sites:
           
DPP may, on occasion, combine information we receive online with outside records to enhance our ability to market our products or services that may be of interest to you. DPP may provide you with an opportunity to express your preferences,  with respect to receiving details about products and services from DPP or from selected third parties, including preferences stated in forums or communities on third party sites. In these types of cases, DPP may combine information we receive online from third party sites to enhance our ability to market to you.

Our Site may contain links to other third party sites, including third party social networking sites or social media sites, whose information practices may be different than ours. Please consult the privacy policies of these third party sites before submitting any information.

You can also engage with DPP’s Content, such as videos, applications, and other offerings, on or through a third party social networking sites; a third party social media plug-in and application, and/or DPP social media plug-ins and applications that may be available through third-party sites or the Site. When you engage with DPP’s Content on or through third party social networking sites, plug-ins and applications you may allow us to have ongoing access to certain identifying information from your social media profile (e.g., name, e-mail address, photo, gender, birthday, location, your list of friends, people you follow and/or who follow you, or the posts you make) to deliver the Content or as part of the operation of the application.

When you provide information from your social media account, it can help enable us to do things like (1) give you exclusive content, (2) personalize your online experience with us within and outside our applications or Site, and (3) contact you through the social networking sites or directly. By doing so, you consent to the use of this information in accordance with this privacy policy.

Please be advised that when you provide identifying information to us on the Site, or on third party social networking sites, or through an application on social networking sites, it could be seen by anyone on the Internet. DPP cannot prevent further use of this information. You can control what data you share through privacy settings available on some social networking sites.

In the event that DPP may offer content or programs (e.g., videos, contests, or promotions) that are sponsored by or co-branded with identified third parties, these third parties vendors may obtain identifying information that visitors voluntarily submit to participate in the Site activity. DPP has no control over the third parties' use of this information.

However, DPP will not use or transfer identifying information provided to us in ways unrelated to the ones described above and without also providing you with an opportunity to opt out of these unrelated uses, where feasible.

 

Collection and Use of Non-Identifying information:

DPP may also collect certain non-identifying information − data in a form that does not permit direct association with any specific individual. For example,when you visit this Site, DPP may collect information regarding the type of browser you are using, the type of operating system you are using, or the domain name of your Internet service provider. The following are other examples of non-identifying information that we collect and how we may use it.

DPP may collect information such as occupation, language, postal code, area code, unique device identifier, location, and the time zone where a DPP product is used so that we can better understand customer behaviour and improve our products, services, and advertising.

DPP may collect, use, transfer, and disclose non-identifying information for any purpose. We may collect information regarding customer activities on the Site and from our other products and services. We may use non-identifying information that we collect to improve the design and content of the Site and to enable us to personalize your Internet experience. This information is aggregated and used to help us provide more useful information to our customers and to understand which parts of our Site, products, and services are of most interest. Aggregated data is considered non-identifying information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.

If DPP combines non-identifying information with identifying information the combined information will be treated as identifying information for as long as it remains combined.

 

Cookies and Other Technologies:

The Site, online services, interactive applications, email messages, and advertisements may use “cookies” and other technologies such as pixel tags or web beacons.

"Cookies" are files that can identify you as a customer and store your personal preferences as well as technical information. "Web beacons" (or “Pixel Tags”) monitor your use of the Site. Web beacons are small strings of code that provide a method for delivering a graphic image on a web page for the purpose of transferring data, such as the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the digital device that downloaded the page on which the web beacon appears, the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of the page on which the web beacon appears, the time the page containing the Web beacon was viewed, the types of browser that fetched the Web beacon and the identification number of any cookie on the digital device previously placed by that server. Web beacons enable us to send email messages in a format customers can read, and they tell us whether mail has been opened. DPP may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent to customers. 

These technologies help us better understand user behaviour, tell us which parts of our web site people have visited, and facilitate and measure the effectiveness of advertisements and web searches. DPP’s goal in these cases is to make your experience with DPP more immersive, convenient and personal, as well as provide you with better customer service.

On their own, cookies or web beacons do not contain or reveal any identifying information. DPP treats information collected by cookies and other technologies as non-identifying information.
           
However, if you choose to furnish identifying information, this information can be linked to the data stored in the cookies/web beacons. To the extent that Internet Protocol (IP) addresses or similar identifiers are considered personal information by local law, we also treat these identifiers as identifying information. Similarly, to the extent that non-identifying information is combined with identifying information, DPP will treat the combined information as identifying information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy.

DPP and its partners or associates, if any, may use cookies and other technologies in advertising services to control the number of times you see a given ad, deliver ads that relate to your interests, and measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns.

By accepting the Terms of Use, and therein this Privacy Policy, you specifically agree to our use of cookies and web beacons. Should you choose to prevent cookies from accessing your computer or digital device it is your responsibility to disable the appropriate features on your web browser or digital device. In addition, you may set your web browser to display HTML e-mails as text only, thereby preventing the use of some web beacons or pixel tags. Please note that certain features of this Site or any linked site may not be accessible once cookies or similar technologies are disabled or prevented from interacting with your computer or web browser.

Third parties may present or serve advertisements on our Site, provide us with data collection, reporting and ad response measurement, as well as assist with delivery of relevant marketing messages and advertisements. OUR COMMITMENT TO PROTECTING YOUR PRIVACY

To make sure your identifying information is secure, DPP has communicated our privacy and security guidelines to all employees, strategic partners, agents, associates or service providers and will strictly enforce privacy safeguards within the company and with respect to our Site.

DPP has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and administrative procedures to safeguard and help prevent against loss, theft, misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. It is our intention to  maintain data security, and ensure the correct use of the information gathered online.

DPP’s online services use secure server site scripting on all web pages where identifying information is collected. Doing so enhances the protection and the confidentiality of your identifying information while transmitted over the Internet.

Please be advised that when you use some DPP products, services, or applications or post on a forum (e.g. bulletin board, chat room,) or social networking service, including those on any third party site, the identifying information you share is visible to other users and can be read, collected, or used by them. You are responsible for the identifying information you choose to submit in these instances.

 

Retention, Access or Correcting Identifying Information:  

With respect to the Site, DPP will retain your identifying information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Access to your identifying information must be granted prior to a request to correction can be submitted. DPP will make best efforts to provide you with access so that you can then request that DPP correct the data if it is inaccurate.

DPP may decline to process requests that are frivolous, vexatious, made in bad faith, unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, are extremely impractical, or for which access is not otherwise required by law. To protect your privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to help verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.

For privacy matters relating to third party vendors or linked sites, please contact the third party site providers in the event you wish to access or correct any identifying information collected about you online by those third party site providers.

 

Additional Information Regarding Children’s Privacy:

In general, should a user want to view this Site or participate in certain interactive features offered in this Site, if any, or by way of a third party site or links to those sites posted on our Site, you do so at your own risk. Please review the Terms of Use for further clarification.

DPP does not knowingly collect identifying information from children under 13 or persons that lack legal capacity to agree to the Terms of Use, or persons that are not of sufficient legal age and/or mental capacity or are otherwise unable to be legally bound in contract.

Should we learn that we have collected the identifying information of a child under 13 we will take steps to delete the information as soon as practical.

 

INTERNATIONAL USERS 

This Site operates internationally by way of the Internet but our computer systems are currently based in Canada. Your personal data will be processed by us in Canada where data protection and privacy regulations may not offer the same level of protection as in other parts of the world.

Should you use or view the Site, you hereby consent to the collection and/or processing in Canada of your identifying information, which includes the use of cookies as described above; and in accordance with the privacy regulations as established by laws of Canada. Should you object to this condition, do not visit or view this Site.

 

NOTIFICATION REGARDING UPDATES  

DPP may update this privacy notice and encourage you to periodically check back and review this policy so that you always will know what information we collect, how we use it, and to whom we disclose it. Should there be any material changes in the way DPP treats identifying information, a notice will be placed on the Site along with the updated Privacy Policy.
